Laser Hair Removal:
How to get results that last (Why we are the best place for laser hair removal)

Laser hair removal (LHR) continues to be one of the most popular light-based aesthetic treatments performed every year. Over 1.4 million LHR procedures were performed in the U.S in 2004, a 53% increase compared to 2003. Each year this popular procedure continues to grow, and the growth is thought to be related to technological advances in efficacy and patient safety. When we as physicians are choosing various technologies offered at Reflections Med Spas, patient safety and efficacy are the 2 most important requirements we demand in our equipment. Unfortunately, a variety of factors can affect your results and safety when undergoing laser hair removal treatments.  Inferior or out-dated technology and equipment, poor training, inadequate physician oversight, poor patient selection, poor technique, too little or too much energy, and the wrong technology choice for the wrong patient all can influence the overall effectiveness of your laser hair removal treatment regimen. They all can also affect whether or not you have complications such as a burn, hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, or no result at all.

Occasionally we see patients who have experienced laser hair removal treatments from other facilities describe these outcomes. We find that a thorough and careful medical evaluation, and the correct technology, properly used by a properly trained and certified provider can make all the difference in the world in patients who have had LHR in the past but were not satisfied with the results.

We recently added the ProWave 770 to our toolbox of technology. The 1064 Nd: YAG laser has been the workhorse of our LHR practice to date and has provided excellent results for our patients. In fact as you may already know we were voted:  the “Best Place for Laser Hair Removal” by the readers of Northwest Woman Magazine in 2007.  And, we take great pride in this accomplishment. Although the 1064 Nd: YAG laser is useful, and continues to have specific uses in our practice, the new programmable variable pulse width ProWave 770 was designed with a larger 3cm by 1cm spot size and faster repetition rates to allow us to treat a variety of skin types with speed, efficiency and great results. So far our patients love it due to improve comfort and speed of their procedures. Both legs can be treated in 15 to 20 minutes! Treat yourself to new, improved and SAFE laser hair removal in 2008.
